What is it?
Bacteria or fungi multiply in the vitreous jelly. Pain, redness and falling vision come on quickly, and sight can be lost within a day or two without treatment.
It is rare (around 1 in 1,000 to 2,000 cataract operations or injections), but it is the reason surgeons ask you to report pain and falling vision immediately.
