Retina specialist or general eye doctor?

রেটিনা বিশেষজ্ঞ বনাম চোখের ডাক্তার

A retina specialist is an ophthalmologist with extra training in diseases of the retina and vitreous, including laser, eye injections and vitreo-retinal surgery. See one for detachment, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, bleeding inside the eye or floaters with flashes.

What is it?

All eye doctors train in the whole eye. A retina specialist then spends one to two extra years (a fellowship) on the retina only.

General eye doctors handle glasses, cataract, glaucoma and routine checks, and refer retina problems.
